What kind of dice should I have?
That really depends on what game you are playing. Not all games require dice. Some have cards and others are diceless. However, in the beginning of the rulebook, most games will tell you whether you need dice, what kinds and the amount of dice you will need.

Do I need a costume?
If you want one, then, by golly wear one! However, it is rarely required for play. About the only time you would need to dress up is if you are participating in a LARP. Even then, it's usually not a requirement.

Do I need to buy rulebooks just to play?
It's a good idea. At the very least, you should buy the core rules so that you can read through them and gain a better understanding of how things work. This will make playing much easier. However, it's not required . If you have a patient friend or GM, then they will usually be happy to explain the rules to you as you go along. But, this can slow things down in game greatly.

What basic stuff do I need to play?
You need some dice (or cards or whatever is specified in the beginning of the rulebook), a pencil, paper, the basic player's handbook, a GM and a fabulous imagination. Maybe some Mt. Dew and Cheetos. You're all set.

I want to Games Master (GM) a role playing game, where can I find RPG rules?
There are a host of good rules systems available online. Some are free and others can be purchased. Gods and Monsters is a great fantasy role playing game rules system that you can download for free. And you can find even more RPG rules systems and gaming supplements here.

What basic stuff do I need to GM?
You will need some dice (or cards or whatever is specified in the beginning of the rulebook), the players guide and GM's guide if they are separate, pencil, paper, some players and a great story and a lot of patience. The hardest part about GMing is coming up with your idea and then getting the player's caught up in your world.

Do I need miniatures?
You don't need miniatures for most tabletop games (though there are some that revolve heavily around minis. Check your rulebook and see). But, miniatures are great to use to give everyone an idea of where all the characters are in battle scenes and help coordinate what each each character is going to do. While they are pretty, you don't need minis for this, though. You can always use spare dice, checkers, Cheetos, coins, etc. as markers if you wish.
